Following the rough day of school, a friend of mine picked me up, for we were on our way to celebrate the 19th birthday of a good friend of ours. Due to my extreme lack of organizational skills, I was unable to squeeze a meal between my infinitesimal breaks. As a result, shall we say my stomach was pretty much empty during the entirety of the day. In other words, I was fucking hungry. When we arrived there, the only thing that entered my mind was that of raw fish on rice. Unfortunately, there was no food in sight. Why on earth would a restaurant make their clients wait one hour prior to delivering the first servings? Coincidentally, a friend of ours decided to bring multiple bottles of wine; after all, it was a birthday we were attending. For the hour prior to the arrival of our food, we can say I took advantage of the situation. I only managed to eat like 20 of the sliced critters before they all ended up in the bathroom, which I claimed for approximately half an hour. Not a good night.
This post will be relatively brief, for a few reasons. Firstly, I am extremely tight on time pertaining to many project deadlines (the life of an engineer in training, am I right?). Secondly, who really cares about forewords? All jokes aside, I didn't want to disappoint our faithful readers and leave our blog stale for another week.
Let's talk about the news Ital Tek has been making with his new EP which released through Civil Music. Entitled 'Hyper Real', he returns with a signature sounds comprising of a wide array of instrumental usage. We note a certain amount of tribal attribution, whether it be a wooden flute or an archaic-sounding drum kit. Composed of 3 originals and 2 remixes, this one is worth checking out. Although nothing astounding, his pieces are adequate enough to grab your attention for the duration of the piece, and is a guaranteed head nodder.
Sango has been uploading many free download releases as of recent, and for the most part, they are all extremely captivating. To say the least, he has been whoring himself out to the hands of many artists, with collaborations ranging from hip-hop to chill-hop.
Leon Vynehall's EP has finally been released! This three-track long EP is in the classic style of the man himself, although I must say this one is much less in your face than the others. He took a turn from deep-house to industrial to some relatively downplayed house. There's nothing wrong with venturing through the subtypes of house music, as we can clearly see that Leon Vynehall has yet to find his niche. One could also argue that he is evolving with the crowd. The judgment is all yours.
Giraffage released 'Needs' not too long ago, and is a very pleasant listen. Released on Alpha Pup Records, this has really stirred up the blogosphere of the trip-hop community. Every now and then, you will jump from your couchlock-induced high to bounce to some pretty heavy baselines and vocal sampling (this is pretty redundant in music these days, as I seem to say it a lot; heavy baselines = $?).
After much absence in the music community, Romare has come out with two individual releases as a teaser to his upcoming full-length album. You can listen to them below. He still remains true to his focus on afrocentrism.
Lastly, the Shlohmo EP 'Laid Out', which will be made available in approximately a week, has been released for streaming on Pitchfork. Definitely a mention-worthy listen. Leave it to Shlohmo to get those emotions stirring.

The video of the week is brought to you by Vaghe Stelle. Nothing better than hot babes filmed by potatoes.
I'm off to the islands for march break, don't expect me for another two weeks! Until then.
