Long Overdue

Additional writers was supposed to mean additional and more frequent posts. Yet, its been almost two weeks since anyone has written anything. We should consider a rotation of some sort.

Lately, I've been trying to diversify within the different types of electronic music that I listen to. It feels sort of weird to go from a high energy house track to some relaxing trance, but Gareth Emery is great. Seriously, Exposure is amazing and he has lots of other awesome tracks too (Props to Ellis).

So in my quest for diversity, I stumbled upon a Montreal based DJ by the name of Geoff Buchanan. He was introduced to me by a musically gifted friend of mine who is going to win Canadian Idol next year. Geoff is a 21 year old guy from Quebec who started his music career by performing in a few metal bands. He fell in love with synthesizing sounds and manipulating them to his liking. This is what he claims played the biggest role in propelling him towards dubstep. Don't be surprised if you don't hear too many wobbles in his songs. Geoff is an innovator in the sense that he tries to distance himself from the genre as he welcomes the "experimental" adjective that is often attributed to his tunes. I encourage his experiments, because as you guys will soon hear, his style is very entertaining and refreshing. He recently released a four track EP called Fashion Crasher under Monkey Dub Recordings, a record label which also employs Man of Zion and Dub Junkies.

This first track is from his EP and is my favorite of the four.

This one is called Molotov

Now THIS is experimental dubstep
Liquid Cocaine by Geoff Buchanan

Feel free to check out Geoff's myspace, soundcloud, youtube channel and personal website for more.

In addition to awesome new styles of dubstep, I've got more tracks.

This kid from South Africa is only 18 years old and has provided me with the dirtiest stuff I've heard in a long time. Try to guess where the dialogue is from.

Gas Mask - Skare (Updated 2010)

This is a new Dizzee Rascal track. I'm not a big fan of rap, but I love this guy. The dubstepish background beat makes this song very enjoyable.

Heavy - Dizzee Rascal ft. Chase & Status

This tune is from a German duo named Hey Today!. They sound a lot like Boys Noize, a German counterpart. Coincidence? I do not think so.

Toasted - Hey Today! (Original Mix)

Don't believe me? See for yourself.

Jeffer - Boys Noize

One more thing: if you live in the Montreal area and you would like to see Geoff live, send us an e-mail and we will let you know about his upcoming performances.

Good Song and Randomness. I Like the Vibe, Yeah.

So like I said in my last post, I’m extremely busy this week (next week too), so I’m sorry in advance if I cannot keep up with posts. To summarize, I have tests and essays to do/study, there is Deadmau5 on Friday and my girlfriend takes a lot of my time (this one and deadmau5 are awesome). Weee.

I don’t have much music to post, sadly, because I barely have the time to listen to any music or to browse other blogs. SO, Here it goes, starting with the track and then with two upcoming album reviews.

I talked about Bleuet about two weeks ago and he sent me an email this week, saying that his new remix is out. He likes remixing terrible tracks... and making them better, more indie_ish. I really like this one. I really hate the original track though, I really do. Yes, you guessed right, another remix of Pitbull... holy shit. This one is more dark ravey-lounge. You should like it.

Fun stuff, roar.

I downloaded the promo CD of Power (Boys Noize’ upcoming album), and from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty tight if you like his style. If you didn’t get the chance to pick up the two tracks from his EP, get them here. It’s Jeffer and Starter. Just letting you know though, this album is messed up, in a good way. Can’t wait to get the normal and legal version of the tracks (without the “HI THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL COPY OF BOYS NOIZE’ UPCOMING ALBUM, POWER, BROUGHT YOU BY BOYS NOIZE RECORDS. GOOD STUFF” or something like that).

Then, I’ve downloaded and listened to Tiesto’s upcoming album Kaleidoscope. I know most of you hate trance, so I’ll be brief. The tracks are mostly all good and you don’t get sick of the style. He is less “spiritual” if you can call it like that (less parts with classical instruments that give you the feeling you’re watching a movie). Although I enjoyed that aspect of his music, this album is really kickass. It has more potential radio-wise, with songs featuring Calvin Harris and such (NELLY FURTADO WEEEE). I really like it. Here is the tracklist (sorry, no links, I’m not allowed...).

01. Kaleidoscope (Feat. Jonsi) (7:36)
02. Century (Feat. Calvin Harris) (4:42)
03. Feel it in My Bones (Feat. Tegan and Sara) (4:52)
04. Who Wants to Be Alone (Feat. Nelly Furtado) (4:36)
05. La Ride (4:13)
06. Bend it Like You Dont Care (3:22)
07. Knock You Out (Feat. Emily Haines) (5:06)
08. Louder than Boom (4:10)
09. Surrounded by Light (2:39)
10. Escape Me (Feat. Cc Sheffield) (4:17)
11. You Are My Diamond (Feat. Kianna) (4:10)
12. I Will Be Here (Feat. Sneaky Sound System) (3:26)
13. I Am Strong (Feat. Priscilla Ahn) (5:39)
14. Here on Earth (Feat. Cary Brothers) (4:55)
15. Always Near (1:33)
16. Its Not the Things You Say (Feat. Kele Okereke) (3:14)
17. Fresh Fruit (5:23)

RAWR. SO MUCH FAWKING POWER...!

Alright, I'm 10 days late. But who cares when it's to anounce the upcoming album... of Boys Noize? It got announced last week on Boys Noize's blog. The name is going to be Power and will have 12 awesome tracks. It should be out around September 25th. Here is the tracklisting (with of course, a link to the only 2 songs I was able to get my hands on). There are some previews on the web, but I hate posting bad quality songs or incomplete songs so if you really want to listen to the maybe 1 or 2 previews left on the web (they all got removed by BNR), just search the Hype Machine.

1. Gax
2. Kontact me
3. Starter
4. Jeffer
5. Transmission
6. Nerve
7. Trooper
8. Drummer
9. Sweet Light
10. Rozz Box
11. Nott
12. Heart Attack

From what I can see (listen...), it's going to be an awesome album. It seems like it will keep the "old school" Boys Noize's style but with a little touch of new-ness. It's more of a style that everybody can listen to (less effed up I guess). Enjoy the song Jeffer, it's amazing. Starter is good also, but effed up. Oh and by the way, they are from the Starter EP.

I didn't post this enough in previous posts: THESE ARE USED ONLY AS PREVIEWS, IF YOU LIKE THEM, BUY THEM. They aren't on iTunes though. They are on Beatport.

Uh.

It is now official, Michael Jackson is dead. Even if he was reknowned for beeing a pedo, Michael Jackson created awesome music that opened doors for new styles. To make your sadfaces look better I found this on the Internet: Eat it. Signed by Boys Noize, this parody of Beat It is pretty funny.

Boys Noize - Eat it

Oh, and I wish I could dance like Michael Jackson... damn. He was amazing.

R.I.P. BUDDY, WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU.

On a side note, I was watching videos on youtube when I found this song. It's groovy and makes you want to dance and jump around if you have big speakers. It's some nice music, listen to it.

Wolfgang Gartner - Flashback (Original Mix)

By the way: I'll keep posting alot until I have 1 full page of text, because until then, the blog will look empty in my opinion.
