100 Posts Woot-Woot!

Aight so today’s post is a very special one: Not only are we writing while playing Xbox with some Cheetos & rum at 3 am, it’s also the 100th  post on the HAWT (EDIT: we started writing this then, and then got too into owning Justin). So we decided it was a good time to look back on some classic tunes, all of the following are reposts.

Starry Eyed Surprise (Jakwob Remix) – Ellie Goulding                                Still one of my favourites after all this time

Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) – Kid Sister                                                 Pretty much a song that got many of us started on dubstep.

Exposure – Gareth Emery                                                                    This song is so good, it made Justin love trance, even Will admitted it “isn’t bad”. That’s Right!

A Juicy Intro (Ha-Yes! Mashup) – Notorious B.I.G. vs. The XX                  Already with the epic sound of Intro, Biggie’s lyrics just made it the shit.

One – Swedish House Mafia                                                                   I mean, come on…

Pacha On Acid – Afrojack                                                                     Started to hear this song everywhere after it was posted. I think the Hawt deserves all the credit really…

Pon de Floor (Diplo Rap Remix) – Diplo

Love – Borogre                                                                                   A track with lyrics we can all enjoy and chant out loud

Dynamik – Michael Woods

Ferry Corsten Set at Bal en Blanc.                                                Possibly one of the best  sets any of us has heard. Period.

Aight so we’ve had a lot of good times, you know laughing at Justin and all, but it pretty much pales in comparison to Fred “fight” with Ultra Records which basically ended with this. GTFO!

Oh and like no post is complete without a picture, here’s a classic:

Where is My Mind?

It seems like every time I write, I’m apologizing for the long delays between posts. I would personally blame Justin for that. But then again I blame Justin for pretty much anything. Speaking of him, his boy Skrillex is the man of the hour and is tearing Beatport apart, but don’t tell Justin that or he’ll go on this long rant on how he sucks now. Gotta admit, I’m kinda disappointed with his new album myself but at least, for every track he releases, there seems to be a sick remix. My personal favourite is with no doubts this next one that just gets so pumped and makes me want to fight. Wonder why…

Kill Everybody (Bare Noize Remix) - Skrillex

Big Boss – Doctor P

Alright so you’ve got the new Doctor P track and all the good dubstep I’ve been hearing lately has gotten me so hyped up for Igloofest. But with exams and all coming there’s few things better than some good chill dubstep  for you to sit back and relax to and there’s few better at it than Jakwob.

Daydreaming (Jakwob Remix) – Kid Sister

A Life Worth Living (Jakwob Remix) – Alan Pownall (Very fawking hawt)

I can’t describe how god the second track is, (very fawking hawt is an understatement) and I’m kicking myself for not knowing it before.  I’m sorry, here’s the the best end of movie song ever remixed in apology.

Where Is My Mind (Bassnectar Remix) – The Pixies

Just learned today that Michael Woods is in Montreal next week December 9th at Theatro Montreal. Not a huge fan but it promises to be sick. Also for those of you like me who have nothing planned on New Year’s Eve, there’s two ridiculous shows at Red-Lite and Circus.  The lineup is Avicii and Cosmic Gate compared to W&W, Ummet Ozcan and Adam K at Red-Lite and Circus respectively. It was heart breaking decision and although I’ve already seen Cosmic Gate and Avicii and none of the others, I just had to chose them, just had to.

Before I go, here’s a track that still blows my mind after more than a year from Ashley Wallbridge (Gareth 2.0) and Andy Moor. I’ll leave the honour to Fred an Justin to cover Chris Lake and all the awesomeness that comes with him.

Faces (feat. Meighan Nealon) – Ashley Wallbridge & Andy Moor

IGLOO IGLOO IGLOO AND MORE IGLOO

Hey people. We went to Igloofest last week and that shit was fucking nuts. They finally changed it to 18+ so people were actually very drunk and gone for the most part (better vibeee, lawl). The DJs were amazing, the crowd was amazing and the beer wasn’t too bad either.

Here was the setlist:

Living Stone (Dubstep)

Noisia (Drum and Bass)

LA Riots (Hard House kind of)

Renaissance Man (Hard “bongo” House kind of)

Long story short, Noisia was really good and his drum and bass really rocked the place, but LA Riots were the night’s All Stars. The crowd went MAD with them mixing stuff. They played most tracks that people wanted to hear which is nice. Renaissance man WOULD’VE BEEN AWESOME IF SOME IDIOT DIDNT STEAL MY HAT RIGHT BEFORE THEY STARTED. Yes some fucking idiot actually took my purple Igloofest hat right off my head and I couldn’t find him because it was so packed. Sigh… So I got pissed and didn’t really enjoy Renaissance Man. I’m pretty sure they rocked the place though, I love their tracks. Awesome night, people that didn’t go really missed something.

To summarize what’s coming up next Friday night…

RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO RUSKO

Yes, Rusko is coming to Igloofest, so YOU SHOULD GO SEE HIM. WHY? Because 12$ for Rusko is almost as good as MSTRKRFT for 5$ 2 years ago. Rusko is amazing, check THIS post for a track and get another one in the links posted beeeee-low. He’s pretty much one of the biggest influences in Dubstep. He’s pretty big in the UK and well known around the blog “scene” (I hate that word, sounds like emo). Here is some dubstep for you to get ready for next Friday (29th). Check the Facebook event HERE. Enjoy the good stuff.

Ginuwine - Pony (Boson Dubstep Remix)

The Prodigy - Take Me To The Hospital (Rusko Remix)

X & Hell - Jump The Gun (Jakwob Remix) (removed)

(These 3 tracks are very, very good if you like dubstep, they all deserve a very fawking hawt tag)

New Stuff Weeee.

Well then: New shtuff. Like what? Jakwob. Yes, this dubstep DJ that got featured on BBC Radio 1 a couple times but no one knows about him yet. I already posted a song from him that is really amazing (Starry Eyed). So if you didn't listen to it yet, do it now because it's pretty much an awesome song, really. Download it Here. Jakwob remixed some artists and made their songs better (at least in my opinion he did). So here are three songs.

The first one (Everyday from Killa Kela) is a well known one, because it has been on Hypem charts for 2 weeks at least... Every DJ remixed it. I would call it a "chill" song, because it's not some big head banging track where you just want to go nuts and run everywhere yelling to the world how much that song is effed up "mang", but it's a pretty awesome track still.

The second one (The Fear - Lilly Allen) wasn't too popular yet (the remix that is) but it's my personal favorite. It's a little more "head banging" while still staying a calm song. You can easily recognize Jakwob's style in there (soft and then the heavy bassline starts). I love it.

And the third one is a remixed version of M.I.A. 's Pull up the Poo. I don't LOVE it but I still enjoy listening to it. I never really adored M.I.A. anyways. It's sounds more like some classic dubstep to be honnest, but still is groovy.

Killa Kela - Everyday (Jakwob Remix)

Lilly Allen - The Fear (Jakwob Remix)

M.I.A. - Pull up the Poo (Jakwob Remix)

Alright so enough with Jakwob and his amazing dubstep.

Some call him the "American Version of Justice", I think he's awesome, but not like Justice yet. Here is Richie Beretta. He released his new track Nitefist not too long ago and it's pretty amazing and very groovy: you'll like it. Then there is his Let it Rock remix that I like, still extremely groovy. You'll recognize some kind of Justice style in his tracks, but more in the drum set he uses. The hi-hat sometimes sounds like Justice's. What I like in his tracks is the fact they are well made and complete. The synth is nice and usually is the "good" one, the one you would like to hear for that kind of song. May your ears have fun:

Richie Beretta - Nitefist

Kevin Rudolf - Let It Rock (Richie Beretta mix)

I'll now present Loot and Plunder, from south Australia. Yes, Australia, not Africa. The "band" is composed of 2 DJs and guess what they make... MASHUPS! They are kind of like Super Mash Bros but more electro-based. I have two mashups for you guys that you should enjoy. It's the kind of music that makes you want to bang your head everywhere and go nuts (if you have monster speakers). They like good music: they like Crookers. Good.

Axwell & Splack Pack - I Found You (Loot & Plunder feat Hank Edit)

Crookers & Ying Yang Twins - Ain't Looking For A Bush (Junior & Second Letter's Party Banga)

Then there is a remixed version of The Sounds - No One Sleeps When I'm Awake, by Vikings. Like many DJs seem to do now, it sounds like MSTRKRFT at some point, but hey, MSTRKRFT is good so who cares. It has the same synth (similar) but a different drumset so it's still good and... almost unique. I like it.

The Sounds - No One Sleeps When Im Awake (VIKING remix)

My soft song of the day was remixed by Mike Snow, that is on fire these days, with his 25000000 remixes on all the blogs. This track is calm and enjoyable to listen at; don't play it a t a club though because people will leave. Hah. I like it.

Vampire Weekend - The Kids Don't Stand A Chance (Mike Snow Remix)

PARTAY TIME!! WEeee

I didn't post much lately because I've been helping my friend to organize a party. It was very, very, very fun. I DJed for the first time outside of my house too! Hah. In this post I'll give you some songs I played at the party. Oh... and it ended with two public security cars and two police cars in front of the house at 2AM. FUN. Whatever, you don't care.

So let's start with this other Amanda Blank song, because many people (including me) "fawking love her". This song is not as amazing as Might Like You Better but still is really fun. It's less electro oriented but hey, it's still Amanda Blank. MAKE IT TAKE IT. Here you go, enjoy.

Amanda Blank - Make It Take It

Then I have this N.A.S.A. song that is starting to be played a little bit too much, let's hope it won't be a Day n' Nite V2. Aston Shuffle remixed this one and it's pretty good. The bass is groovy and makes it a perfect track to play when you want people to dance.

N.A.S.A. - Gifted (The Aston Shuffle Remix)

This next song is my favorite right now, really. Starry Eyed, remixed by Jakwob. This song is just... fawking amazing... it's insane (if you like dubstep ofcourse!). It has the same "style" (if you want to call it style?) than Little Bit by Lykke Li. Starts with a song that makes you think the songs is just commercial but then... you'll see, you'll love it. Boost the bass and the treble and play it loud.

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix) [Very Fawking Hawt]

While looking at some mix's tracklists I found these two next songs. These are very very groovy song that makes you bang your head, so be ready for it. The first one is more like house, but the second is what you could call "dirty electro". PUT YOUR HOOD UP.

DiscoTech - Put Your Hood Up (Thug Rave Mix)

Guns'N'Bombs - Riddle of Steel

My "Relax" song lately is this one. Bl00fuck by Fukkk Offf, Remixed by LeBatman. Seems like many new DJs like calling themselves swears, can't say it doesn't help popularity... You know you want to listen to the song when the artist is Fukkk Offf... Well enjoy French (from France) music, it's good. The bonus track is just another song from this French band, it's good. Hope you have a nice week listening to my new post's songs!
