100 Posts Woot-Woot!

Aight so today’s post is a very special one: Not only are we writing while playing Xbox with some Cheetos & rum at 3 am, it’s also the 100th  post on the HAWT (EDIT: we started writing this then, and then got too into owning Justin). So we decided it was a good time to look back on some classic tunes, all of the following are reposts.

Starry Eyed Surprise (Jakwob Remix) – Ellie Goulding                                Still one of my favourites after all this time

Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) – Kid Sister                                                 Pretty much a song that got many of us started on dubstep.

Exposure – Gareth Emery                                                                    This song is so good, it made Justin love trance, even Will admitted it “isn’t bad”. That’s Right!

A Juicy Intro (Ha-Yes! Mashup) – Notorious B.I.G. vs. The XX                  Already with the epic sound of Intro, Biggie’s lyrics just made it the shit.

One – Swedish House Mafia                                                                   I mean, come on…

Pacha On Acid – Afrojack                                                                     Started to hear this song everywhere after it was posted. I think the Hawt deserves all the credit really…

Pon de Floor (Diplo Rap Remix) – Diplo

Love – Borogre                                                                                   A track with lyrics we can all enjoy and chant out loud

Dynamik – Michael Woods

Ferry Corsten Set at Bal en Blanc.                                                Possibly one of the best  sets any of us has heard. Period.

Aight so we’ve had a lot of good times, you know laughing at Justin and all, but it pretty much pales in comparison to Fred “fight” with Ultra Records which basically ended with this. GTFO!

Oh and like no post is complete without a picture, here’s a classic:

NEED MORE DUBSTEPPPP.

If you follow The Hawt on Facebook or Twitter, you probably read the “new posts after midterms bla bla bla”". I’ve been super busy with school, studying a lot and failing exams anyways. I had 4 midterms this week. It kinda blew. Anywayyys… that’s my excuse for not posting. Thanks to the others for posting enough while I couldn’t.

lol

What I noticed on the blog was the lack of dubstep lately. After Electric Zoo, Justin and Ellis were mad on Trance and House. I’m not complaining because what they posted was amazinnnng, but I’m just stating a fact.

So… I’ll start with some “new” Major Lazer. By “new” I mean new in my music library, because I had a hard time keeping up with new releases since school started and this “new” Major Lazer I’m talking about was released 2 months ago. I’m obviously talking about their new EP “Lazers Never Die”. It is short, but very nice (that’s what she said am I right). It’s basically 2 new tracks with 3 remixes of their previous album. In the 2 new tracks, there is one that was released like a year ago and the other wasn’t released before the EP, but was in a Major Lazer Essential Mix (Diplo’s half) from a whiiileeeeeeeee back. The remixes are decent and are basically electronic versions of some reggae tracks. Check them out, I’ll only post the 2 new tracks that are pure reggae/dancehall/potsmoking music. I swear to god, when you listen to the tracks you become black for a few minutes.

Major Lazer - Sound Of Siren Feat. M.I.A. & Busy Signal

Major Lazer - Good Enuff (Cash Flow Dub) Feat. Collie Buddz & Lindi Ortega

 Lazers Never Die EP

On with some (needed to survive) dubstep…

So I talked to an old friend l used to play computer games with (he’s a dubstep addict) and he gave me a few tracks that are worth posting. I wish he would post on the blog though! Haha. Here is some Don Diablo, Excision and Datsik, Bob Marley, Flux Pavilion and some DJ Fresh.

Sick mashup.
Don Diablo vs Excision & Datsik – Blow The Calypso

Sounds like old school Rusko! (This is where you hear Bob Marley)
Flux Pavilion – Excuse me

Here is more Flux Pavilion. The main synth sounds like some Doctor P.
Dj Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavilion Remix)

You remember the Brostep mix #2 from Kabz months back right? You know the one where you guys learned what was filthy dubstep? Ya’ know… da real thang. Well Kabz released 2 new mixes since(there’s one that I already posted and that was pretty good, but it doesn’t come close to brostep#2 or the new mix I’m posting today). His newest one is really filthy with some tracks reminding me of brostep. I LOVE IT. He also plays some Noisia! Check it out, it’s worth it (download it!). Oh and don’t forget to ask Ellis to play it in his car. Hah!

On with some ooooold school mixed with some trance.

The first song I want to post is the one that Tiesto has been spamming lately on Sirius XMs (Tiesto’s Club Life thing). Here is what he said after playing it: “This track  always makes me smile” (add his amazing weird accent that we all love). What he said is true by the way. It’s an old school track that got remixed by Fred Falke. The result is a disco-ish song that has a nice groove and that is mixable with Trance! AMAZING!

Sia - Clap Your Hands (Fred Falke Remix)

Here are some songs from Gareth Emery’s sets that are really sick and that he played at Circus. (The two first songs of the set). The first one was just mystic/cool; it’s just a really nice intro. Annddd the second one is just a really garrethemeryish trance song: neat! Enjoy.

Arno Cost - Cyan (Original Mix)

Mason - You Are Not Alone (Original Mix) <—Personal Favourite

Have a nice week and check Cyan’s official video HERE, it’s really cool.

BONUS (BAL EN BLANC REPRESENT!):

Sander Van Doorn - Daddyrock (Original Mix)

I’m a terrible person.

Yep.

Last time I posted, I talked about SOLO working on a mix… well he released it the next day. There’s a lot of cool shit in his mix, like a “Vocal Remix” of Sweet Shop (it’s LEGEND… ARY). Check the tracklist to find it.

SOLO is known for adding vocals to every dubstep song he can, and he basically put together all the best tunes he remixed into a big mix. Enjoy!

DJ SOLO - Hated In The Nation by DJ SOLO

INFO

“This is my new concept album/mixtape/EP which contains all original DJ SOLO bootlegs, re-edits, and remixes, along with 5 original rap tracks over dubstep, drum n bass, and hip-hop, and is "hosted" from beyond the grave by the most hated outlaw punk rocker himself...GG Allin!! The goal of this mix, other than to be fun and entertaining, is to draw a clear line in the sand between what used to be considered "dubstep" and the newer hardcore style that has now evolved into something that the original dubstep fans cannot identify with and for the most part, downright HATE. I want to open the doors for hardcore bass music of all genres including dubstep, DnB, electro, and Hip-Hop, to be united without it being subject to someone else's rules and standards. This ain't your father's dubstep...this is BASS PUNK!”

So yesterday I DJed with some insane speakers. It was fun. I mean LEGENDARY. People seemed to like what I played (house music oh damn) and they were pretty pumped until about 3:30 AM when cops came to say hi.

I know I’m corrupted… but I think house music can sometimes be good. David Guetta proves it every time he releases a track and this time he teamed up with Kelly Rowland to produce a great tune. This track is the one people enjoyed the most yesterday (play it loud).

David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland – Commander (Extended Dance Mix)

I finally got to listen to LAZERPROOF (a collaboration between Major Lazer, La roux and other artists like Gucci Mane). I have to say it wasn’t that amazing, but some of the tracks were really cool remixes. Sadly, a couple remixes are just mashups that don’t fit that well together, but oh well! Here is my favorite track included in the mixtape. Grab the full mixtape on Maddecent.com.

I do.

What the hell.

Okay so. I’ve been listening to this DJ for a while now, but I never felt like posting about him. This guy has the best name ever (after mine of course): Chewy Chocolate Cookies. HOW AMAZING IS THAT, HOLY SHIT?! Well his name is not the only amazing thing in this guy. His tracks are usually remixes of songs that aren’t danceable at all (MOST of the time, NOT all the time). You probably heard the remix he did of Genesis (from Justice) and if you didn’t, you’re missing out on something. Try thinking of Genesis, but danceable, and that, without unknown substances in your blood. Yeah, you said it: Dayrm.

His most recent release is a remix of Pon De Floor (from Major Lazer), which is totally insane. I know Pon De Floor was already a danceable-ish track, but he added some ravey effect to the song, while keeping the tribal feel. He just made it more headbanging, that’s all, yeah, okay. IT’S STILL HAWT FROM THE OVEN, ENJOY TEH COOKIEZZ.

By the way, I won't be able to post a lot for about 2 weeks, since I have all my assignments to hand in and I have tests and stuff. SORRIES.
