Excuses Excuses

I’m not going to bore you with the elaborate reasons why there was no post last week. Instead, let’s dive right in to this week’s tracks. Time constraints, bla bla bla, short post.

New track from Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, teaming up with vocalist Greta Svabo Bech to give life to some great electro house. Notice how big a contrast the chorus makes with the rest of the song, giving listeners the chance to rest in between fierce head-bobbing and roof-raising arm movements.

Released on Ultra Records on October 22nd

Chris Malinchak brings forth a soothing and catchy tune on French Express. Synths are great, vocals are fantastic (love the background work) and the melody is simply blissful, resulting in an track worth the free download.

Played during TATW 447, then chosen as the web vote winner for 448, Vintage & Morelli’s bootleg of “Ashes” by Above & Beyond’s Oceanlab project is a clear favorite among trance fans. Fitting the original with some extra percussions and a stealthy bassline, he brings an oldie up to 2012 speed.

Last offering this week comes in the form of a mix from David La Melza, a.k.a. Tropicool. Somewhat similar to the Zimmer Summer Tape from a few weeks ago, Tropicool’s Dopamine Dreams is a chilled out, disco-infused hour of funky beats perfect for an afternoon of hammock lounging. Transitions can sometimes sound weird, but this is still worth a listen.

Quick events update, legend Danny Tenaglia is at Stereo and Max Vageli & AN21 and Junior Sanchez are at New City Gas on Saturday night. Dennis Ferrer comes to Muzique on Tuesday (pay at the door) while Birdy Nam Nam and Kill the Noise take the Telus Theater on Thursday. Friday the 16th is Cosmic Gate night at Circus and the following evening is Victor Calderone’s at Stereo and Sky Blu and Sidney Samson’s at New CIty Gas.
Last, but certainly not least, here's a video to get you through that treacherous last weekday and start your weekend off on the right foot. This week, the clever clip from Duck Sauce’s follow-up to Barbara Streisand, “Big Bad Wolf.”

I can’t even begin to imagine how awkward it must’ve been to film this.

I Need More Painkillers!

What’s up ladies and gents? We haven’t posted anything for a while so here’s a little music to brighten your week. And, especially for Will, there’s gonna be a bit of everything, not just trance.

image Before we get to the music though, I think this picture on the right is pretty self explanatory. Steve Angello is coming Friday at the Telus Theatre. Tickets are 30 bucks and totally worth it in my opinion. Also, according to Justin, there should be a guest appearance by Axwell which would be insane. But you didn’t really think that the night would end there I hope? The same night (or morning, whatever you fancy really), Sean Tyas is playing at Circus Afterhours and its only a few blocks away and 15$ entry. So basically, you get to see two of the worlds top 50 Djs in one night, you’d have to be crazy or Wei to miss it.

So this first track is a new release and I just can’t stop listening to it. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I like almost everything that Mysto & Pizzi do. If you haven’t heard of them yet, go check’em out on Youtube, they’re hilarious.

Malo (Mysto & Pizzi Remix) – Avicii

Let’s face it, it just wouldn’t be one of my posts if I didn’t have any trance in it.

Painkillers (Stoneface & Terminal Remix) – Kyau & Albert

Good Dreams (Barnes & Heatcliff Remix) – tyDi

Hands to Hold Me (feat. Cristina Soto) – Tritonal

By the way, Armin is having a vote on his website for the song of the year. If you’re like me and you look for any reason not to study, there’s  a huge list of great tracks you can check out. Oh and if Stoneface isn’t the best Dj name I just don’t know what is.

This next track I did not like at first, I found it kinda boring but I just could not get it out of my head.

I Can’t Stop – Flux Pavilion

And finally, this final track is getting kind of mixed reviews. It’s a weird mix between trance and d&b. Mostly, if you liked the original trance version you might not like it but I still find it sick. There cannot be enough mixes of this song.

On a Good Day (Metropolis) (J Majik & Wickaman Remix) – OceanLab vs. Gareth Emery

From New York with Love

Aight aight, so I’m back from NY and I’m getting pretty bored. Turns out, having nothing to do gets boring pretty fast, especially when you're away from your computer and more importantly, your source of new music. But now that that is all behind me, the future seems relatively bright, part from all those hours that will be spent at my job.

Ok so about the bright future I mentioned, turns out Gareth Emery is coming to Montreal June 23rd in what is, my opinion a very underpublicized event, I mean it isn’t every day that you get to see one of the World’s top ten Djs for under 20$. Most definitely worth the two hours of salary if you ask me.

So far I’ve only posted  Exposure but here are a couple more beast tracks.

On a Metropolis Day – Gareth Emery vs. Oceanlab (Myon and Shane 54 Mashup)

So this is pretty much a super track, this is what happens when you have Gareth, Above & Beyond’s project Oceanlab and finally mashup specialists Myon and Shane 54 teaming to form one track.

Global – Gareth Emery

One of his most recent productions, in the same lines as Exposure. Sorry about the start, it was ripped from Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance.

This is That Silence – Gareth Emery vs. Delerium (Black Army Mashup)

Okay so you have Delerium’s epic Silence mashed into Emery’s This is That and when you listen to them separately, you know this mash was meant to be. Super vocals by Sarah McLachlan (never thought I’d say that).

Metaverse – Dj Orkidea (Gareth Emery Remix)

Just good to chill to.

Aight so one other crazy thing caught my attention but this one is so crazy it’s out of this world, the line-up alone shames Bal en Blanc. It’s called Electric Zoo and its taking place in New York.

Alright so like I mentioned, the lineup is beyond insane, they say that it is headlined by Chemical Brothers and Armin van Buuren but that only because Americans are shameful promoters, for this venue anyways. It goes like this:

Day 1 - September 4th

The Chemical Brothers, Paul Van Dyk (who should headline because of his awesomness),Benny Benassi, Richie Hawtin, ATB, Major Lazer, Kaskade.

Day 2 - September 5th

Armin van Buuren (a must see),  John Digweed, Fedde Le Grand, Above & Beyond (must see también), Boys Noize, Bassnectar.

Also that weekend: Diplo, Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Gareth Emery, A-Track, Markus Schultz, Rusko, Steve Aoki & more!

Road trip anyone?
